Increasing Trade with Kenya

LeaderGen is spearheading a government funded international trade development programme to increase the two way flow of trade between Kenya and the UK.

The LeaderSet capacity building initiative is mobilising and harnessing the prestigious Chevening Alumni leaders network in Kenya to drive economic growth, wealth and jobs creation and prosperity in both countries.

There are approx 400 Chevening Alumni in Kenya, many of whom occupy senior leadership positions in government, the private sector, parastatals and civil society. This powerhouse of influential leaders, have come together as a collective force for good. Their mission is to effect positive economic and social transformation in Kenya and the East African region through trade and investment.

LeaderSet will capacity build 20 x Kenyan companies run by Chevening Alumni through a combination of leadership development, 1-2-1 mentoring from international trade experts, and matching with best fit UK companies with whom they can do business.

The programme is being delivered in partnership with partners like UK Trade & Investment who will be staging major events in London and Manchester in October to support the success of LeaderSet by recruiting a pool of UK companies who wish to do business with Kenya.

LeaderSet will make extensive use of the Chevening website portal to provide participants with the space to chat, exchange ideas and submit feedback, as well as participate in interactive webinars and masterclasses. LeaderSet will also use the latest technology such as VOIP and webinars to enhance value for money in delivery.

LeaderGen is working with a partnership alliance of companies  in the UK and Kenya who will help facilitate these mutually profitable business relations.

Funded by the Foreign & Commonwealth, LeaderSet has the potential to be rolled out globally and harness the 30,000 strong powerhouse of Chevening Alumni in the rest fo Africa, Asia, South America and Eastern Europe.

LeaderGen CEO, Marilyn Comrie OBE says “ Chevening was originally created as a public diplomacy tool to build Britain’s network of friends across the world. LeaderSet is using this same network to drive trade flows with the UK to grow the economy at this critical moment as the country tackles its debt problem.

And I am delighted to say that it is already generated a raft of initial contracts to the delight of everyone”.
