MpowerU

Empowered female entrepreneurBuilding the leadership capacity of women entrepreneurs

Running a small business or professional practice is not only highly demanding it can also be a stressful and extremely lonely experience with no-one to discuss the challenges with.

MPowerU is a six-step, high impact leadership improvement programme for women entrepreneurs who want to improve their business performance, experience the supportive and confidence building environment of action learning sets, and get motivated and fired up to do great business.

MpowerU provides an opportunity for businesswomen to discover their strengths, develop skills, increase their knowledge and wisdom to accomplish key business objectives, and enhance their strategic problem solving skills by discussing difficult work/business issues with a peer group, in a confidential and safe setting.  Participation in an MpowerU action learning set will equip women entrepreneurs with a legacy of skills to confidently plan the future growth and sustainability of their businesses, armed with the best real world advice and know-how so that they are fully prepared to meet the new challenges.

Meeting one day a month, the emphasis is on practical, experiential learning around live business issues and generating action plans that can be implemented immediately.  These confidential group discussions, facilitated by a professional LeaderGen approved coach/mentor, will benefit women entrepreneurs looking to :-

How It Works

The MPowerU programme spans a period of 6 months, with a maximum of 10 women entrepreneurs in each MpowerU set.
Each MPowerU set will meet for a TOTAL of SIX sessions. MpowerU is a six-module programme, with one module explored in each session.

Module 1.  Personal Critical Review. Delegates explore the attributes of high performing leaders and assess their own leadership style and ability to identify personal strengths and develop an action plan to address weaknesses.

Module 2. Breaking Out. Delegates are encouraged to examine their own limiting self-beliefs, how holding on to these beliefs is impacting on their business performance, and develop strategies for overcoming negative beliefs.

Module 3. Empowering Attitudes and Behaviours. Delegates examine their personal attitudes and behaviours and how this positively or negatively impacts on others; staff, clients, colleagues, etc. Armed with this self-awareness, delegates identify new positive attitudes and behaviours to empower their relationships with staff, clients, etc.

Module 4. Creating an Inspiring Business Vision. The women will be encouraged to set inspiring 5-year, 3-year and 1-year goals for their businesses, which will provide the strategic framework for an effective business plan.

Module 5. Planning For Success. Delegates examine the core elements of strategic planning; complete our LeaderTool business development questionnaire to start planning their business growth and development over a specified period, and generate action plans.

Module 6. Communicating Your Vision. The women will learn how to communicate their vision effectively with key stakeholders at all levels about their business goals & objectives, responsibilities, performance, expectations and feedback.

At every monthly MPowerU session:-

  • Each set member brings a ‘live’ workplace/business challenge, issue or problem to discuss with group.
  • Through a process of structured questioning, other set members challenge views, perceptions, assumptions and understanding, as well as share knowledge.
  • New insights, ideas and solutions gained.
  • New thinking/solutions are tested out in the workplace.
  • Results brought back to set for analysis – what worked, what didn’t and why not?
  • Individual reflects on learning and integrates new knowledge into practice.

The whole process can be supplemented with one-to-one executive coaching or mentoring to embed learning and support the implementation of the required changes.
