Top Management Interviews

Successful intervieweeInterview Skills Training For Management and Leadership Roles

Top Management Interviews has been specifically designed to provide coaching and interview skills training for individuals wishing to secure senior management and leadership roles. The training will equip individuals with the skills, knowledge and confidence to compete effectively in job interview situations.

A report conducted by KPMG, which analysed the performance of individuals in top management interviews, found that many candidates failed to perform well in numeracy and business acumen skills measured through psychometric aptitude tests –   used as part of the interview process for senior management and leadership roles. It also identified the need for interview skills training to enhance the performance of candidates in management and leadership job interview situations. This high level training programme is a response to this need.

Methodology

Our results driven approach has been designed to achieve the maximum shifts in performance of prospective candidates. This is achieved by:-

  • Increasing exposure to, and confidence in completing occupational assessments for recruitment and development. The aim is to remove the ‘fear’ of psychometric tests by raising awareness and understanding of how they are constructed, what they measure, and how to prepare for them, including validity, reliability and adverse impact.
  • Building up a S.W.O.T analysis of each prospective candidate, raising awareness about current performance levels regarding business acumen, management and personal capabilities, identifying any gaps, and putting together a developmental action plan to raise their game to compete with the best.
  • Professional training in job interview techniques using video-taped interviews, and personal branding/image workshops to ensure they make the right impression.

Content

Day One: AM: Introduction to psychometric and assessment testing; what they are, how they are constructed, what they measure, and how to prepare. PM: Candidates get exposure to a range of aptitude tests which they complete, followed by group discussion on the challenges and approaches used.

Day Two: AM: Candidates complete a DISC personality profile to act as a SWOT analysis. This is a self-administered, self-scored, personal behaviour assessment. Behavioural styles are grouped in four categories and the participant is guided through an in-depth interpretation of results. The instrument then provides feedback for building on strengths and increasing effectiveness in particular situations.

The profile enables individuals to:

  • Assess personal behaviour across four dimensions: Dominance, influence, steadiness and conscientiousness.
  • Discover their personal behavioural strengths and identify the environment conducive to their success.
  • Learn about the differences of others and the environment they require for maximum productivity and teamwork.

PM: Candidates complete more verbal and numeracy aptitude tests. Group discussion and feedback.

Day Three: Interview techniques/training workshop for a maximum of five people with allocated times for each candidate. Our training is based on building confidence, and the interview sessions are based on scenarios and issues specific to your company and therefore realistic for the interviewee.

These workshops are designed to be instructive, entertaining and enjoyable. Courses are tailored to meet specific requirements and can include:-

  • Controlling nerves and building confidence.
  • Interview skills and techniques.
  • Controlling and handling questions.
  • Organising information.
  • Voice training.
  • Personal video of interviews for playback, feedback and to keep for review following the end of the course.

Key points:-

  • Each workshop will cater for a maximum of five candidates who will receive training on interview skills and techniques, which will be recorded on video, for the candidate to keep.
  • The candidates will receive presentation skills training, to banish their nerves and make sure their message really gets across.
  • Prior to the workshop, each candidate will be given details of a fictitious job interview within their organisation, which they will be asked to prepare for. Each will be given a 10 minute ‘challenging’ job interview at the start of the day…. And will be repeated again at the end of the day with the application of their new knowledge so comparisons can be made. And areas for further improvement identified.

Day Four: AM: Personal Branding Workshop. You only get one chance to make a good impression – so make sure it’s the right one. The workshop is crammed full of practical advice on looking good, feeling great and exuding confidence. PM: More exposure to aptitude tests + final group discussion and feedback.
